An Echo of Days Past

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Empire of Sarvania is spreading its wings and opening up a new land for exploration. A land about which little is known. A past civilisation, long lost to the mists of time holds the key to new prosperity for the brave and adventurous. But danger waits within this new domain.

Evil forces plague the countryside – a harbinger of a rising menace. Weapons are forged and forces are raised. An ancient power, born in the age of myth and legend stirs and calls on its supporters to open the gateway to the Material Plane – to reclaim a land once subjugated and lost.

Adventure Module M1: An Echo of Days Past is a large and challenging campaign designed to take characters from 1st Level to 5th Level in the world’s greatest RPG. It is the first instalment of an epic quest which continues in Adventure Module M2: Beneath the Razor’s Edge which you can find at /product/148291/Beneath-the-Razors-Edge?filters=0_0_45189_0_0. The final episode which will take your characters to 8th level is Adventure Module M3: The City Under the Mountain - which you can find at /product/154872/The-City-Under-the-Mountain?src=hottest_filtered&filters=0_0_45189_0_0

The whole booklet is viewable in the quick preview screen and at 99 pages it represents great price per page value. The content can be played as a campaign (as intended) or can be used to flesh out any current home grown campaign. It includes a trading post base camp, a fort, a garrison town (evil), an Orcish cave system and a mine working to investigate. The booklet also includes detailed information on an evil religious cult.

Is this a 5th edition compatible module? I see it is for "he world’s greatest RPG" but not which edition it is for?

thanks,

Hi Walt, really sorry for missing your comment. Please send me an email via 'Contact Publisher' and I will send you a link for the map files. As for the downloads, I would imagine you have the most recent version of the game.

Best wishes,

Mike

Michael, is there a place I can get high resolution maps for this? Also, I had 2 downloads when I purchased this, but they were the same file.

I'm a bit confused as to what to tell any cleric or paladin characters about pantheon, due to the whole avatars ignoring the world thing. What gods/avatars would a good priest follow in this setting? Would good clerics even exist?

Hi Elizabeth, Sorry for my delay in responding to your question – real world commitments.

Who knows what the gods want? To the best of my knowledge, neither the Romans nor the Greeks really perceived their gods as good or evil. Indeed my reading about the Greek pantheon would suggest a pretty neutral perspective towards the human race from their deities – apart from their necessity in practising sacrifice and ritual.

My view about the pantheon as a whole is that what people perceive a deity to stand for is their understanding only. In other words, they may see a god as ‘good’ if it benefits them in their mundane lives on earth. An example of this may be a god of agriculture and fertility such as Ceres – by appeasing this deity, their crops are kept healthy and thus the worshippers may see her as benevolent and good. Is death or corruption inherently evil – perhaps they are just necessary? Nevertheless to a simple human they seem unpleasant and unwanted – therefore any deity...See more

Don't worry, Michael. I truly understand about real world commitments.

Thanks so much for the explanation of how the characters perceive the pantheon. That helps a lot.

Are there any more avatars in the pantheon other than Namera and Ehalazuhn? Are they listed in the other expansions? Or is that up to the DM to determine?

Thanks again for helping me understand your point of view!

Yes - there is certainly more on the way. I am presently writing a set of adventures set within eastern Sarvania. These will expand on the immediate world.

There will also be more detail on the gods of this part of the world and their cult activities. The reality is however, that any work of this kind can only cover the main deities. There will also be a host of traditional minor gods covering all aspects of life - sometimes local forces not related to the Avatars. Belief in these comes from a more primitive spiritual or natural form of worship which might be restricted to within a particular region. These will be covered more briefly but can certainly be elaborated upon.

Thanks for your interest, Elizabeth.

Hi James,

Not really as it is fairly early days for me. I do have a Google+ account under my name 'Michael Stutt' on which I have posted various maps which I have created for these modules. I plan to add to that as I go. I'm always happy to receive comments or even advice there. There is probably a better way to do it but I need to do some research :).

So, finished M1 Saturday. It was a big hit for sure. Won't be playing for the next two weeks so I was hoping to use that time to study M2. Any word on the release date?

Hi Chris - nine players - I've never DMed that many! Just proves that the hobby is thriving. The level range is going to be pretty much fifth to sixth level although further play testing will confirm this. And yes, the Echoes of Days Past epic continues ... the third instalment is called The City Under the Mountain - phew!

That is great news. I look forward to running it. My group finished The Caves of Kraag encounter Saturday. I figure they will finish M1 next weekend if all goes well. That should put us right on track for the release of Razor's Edge. BTW the caravan that you added as an opt. worked like a charm. My group is still trying to figure out where they came from and how to find them again.

That great to hear! I will keep an eye out for sure. I have 9 people in my group not counting myself. They all have nothing but good things to say about it! I like the way it flows and I have found that it is easy enough to bump up the number of the creatures when needed since I do have such a big group. Do you have an idea as to what the level range will be on Razor's Edge? Also, are there any plans on something after Razor's Edge?

My group loved the module. They finished the jail break last week. Saturday we will be playing again but I don't think they will finish the whole thing. Any word on Razors Edge? I hope soon, I'm looking forward to seeing just what will happen next. Great job!

Hi Chris, I am glad you're having a good time with the module. Razor's Edge has taken a while but I am releasing it on the 20th of this month so you should get a fair way through Echo of Days Past before then. The reason why its a bit late is because I wasn't sure whether it would be well received and if I would have to change the style - but thanks to you and everyone else it has been a success. I appreciate everyone's support in this - its hard work but enjoyable too.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
