Near the end of this pdf, it says:

“...There are some books, though, where we’ve gone the extra mile to make things mesh. You can tell those by the little Suzerain logo on the cover of the book. What that means is there’s a PDF that comes for free with the setting—anyone can have it.

“That PDF is called Dogs of Hades and the Suzerain Continuum if the setting book is Dogs of Hades, to use an example....”

I cannot find any of these pdf’s. Can you please point me to where I can get them? I’d like to see how easily the various settings mesh before buying. Thanks :)

Doesn't work with eReaders (Kindle, Nook, Kobo)
Doesn't work with Acroread on Linux

No indeed, John. It won't work on eReaders - they're a very different beast. Sadly, we also can't find a good solution for Linux. It's like all the business people who deal with the PDF format have decided that Linux is a wasteland they don't care about. You'd think there'd be someone who kept up to date and had a reader that handled latest-gen features <sigh>

I should add that if you want to see what's inside the file but can't get it working on your platform, there's a version online (without the whistles and bells): http://www.suzerain.info/tiki-index.php?page=Suzerain+Continuum

Finally got the file to download clean. I'm able to read through it fine. Right from the start I was shocked to see the same terms and concepts that I have for all my stuff; you guys are clearly reading my mind. HA!

Now, which storage box did I put the _Dumarest of Terra_ books in. Any ideas? No? Okay, be that way. HA!

Even when I go to My Library and click on the link for the updated PDF, the one that downloads is still only 2 MB. Note that I've tried this on two different browsers, to make sure it wasn't a caching issue. Is there something else I should be doing? Thanks for any help you can provide.

The download should be working just fine now. Can I ask you to drop a note to DriveThruRPG so their tech guys can take a look at your account. There's something screwy going on there for sure.

Let us know what they say.

After a bit of extra digging, it looks like there's still a bit of a problem hanging around the files on the DriveThrurPG server. I'm sure they'll fix that up in due course, but right now, for a few people, it seems like the download link doesn't work. However, after testing it appears that if you go through checkout with the product again, the new link it generates will work.

It's a pain - nobody should have to check out twice for the same PDF - but it is a solution for the time being.

There are a lot of interactions that you can do with this PDF. Some of the pictures change when you click on them, there a pop up pages detailing different realms, and sections like the "Using the PDF" that change when you click on the symbol.

Hi there Roger. The file is based off four screens that you can navigate and plenty of content as part of each screen which you activate by clicking on various elements. In total it's the equivalent of a 32 page art-intensive PDF done the traditional way, and that seems like it's enough for a primer document to a setting. Try clicking on boxes of text and images to see what happens.

In terms of the file size, that's one of our only bugbears about the new media options in Acrobat - they don't optimize well at all. If we'd done it as a regular PDF we could have taken a 32 page book and got it under 10Mb without sacrificing much quality. Done the new way, the file stays at 60Mb because of the code. I can't wait for them to improve that side of things. And if anyone knows a secret way to optimize this type of file down, I'd love to hear from them! (Yes, that's an open call for people with this kind of layout expertise.)

Sure thing... we're way ahead of you. if you want a tradition RPG gaming download, we've got you covered. Remember, Suzerain Continuum is a fun primer for people who enjoy that kind of thing. It's in addition to what we're already doing elsewhere, so go ahead and check out Savage Suzerain... it's all you ever dreamed of (well, okay, it's not quite Swedish-twins-in-a-Ferrari in terms of dreamy, but it's still pretty hot). Seems to be working so far with the lastest Foxit PDF viewer.....little sluggish on the corner page animations. The Suzerain icons works as well. A question though, are there any page numbers?

Everything should be working properly for the download link. However, please do not use the "Click here to get it link". That link hasn't automatically updated, so it will show whatever link was there at the time of purchase. I am currently checking to see if I can get that changed for everyone and I'll be happy to let you know when I get more information.

Yeah, I have a 58MB file that doesn't seem to have more than 1page. I was told I could use the arrow keys to move to the next pages but that's not working for me.

if you're still having problems (and this goes for anyone) then feel free to contact me personally on mmk [at sign] savagemojo [dot] com and I'll do whatever I can to help you out. Apologies that the file had a blip on the OneBookShelf servers but they worked very hard to find the fault and help get us back up and running, so kudos to them.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
