Galen's Gamble is a short adventure built around 5 encounter ideas, your party is to assist a Time Hunter named Thyrgion in preventing a mercenary band from killing a priest. This priest is destined to sacrifice his own life in order to banish a Demon Lord who is being summoned by a secret cult of worshippers. By martyring himself he is supposed to transcend to become a Demigod, this is supposed to happen in the regular timeflow, but someone wants the mercenaries to kill him and allow the Demon Lord to enter the mortal realm.

Galen's Gamble is a 32 page system-agnostic fantasy adventure for any setting or rules. It pits your adventurers against Galen Greymantle, his mercenary band the Howlers and their deadly assassin Black Star.

The idea I have with this systemless approach is that you know your game, your system and your players. So I have left all the crunchy stat work to you, you can scale the challenge of the stats up and down as you see fit.

In Galen's Gamble's 32 pages you get:

  • An introductory overview of the adventure, the big picture.
  • A flowchart of how I see the adventure unfold.
  • A systemless story adventure taking place in a rural region close to a big mountain range.
  • 4 main NPCs, Thyrgion the Time Hunter, Galen Greymantle, the Assassin BlackStar, the priest Adwin Thwarne as well as Rlazr the foul imp and a 10 minor named mercenary NPCs.
  • 8 special items devided among the main NPCs.
    • Galens two daggers "Galens Fangs"
    • medallion "Weavesun"
    • The statue of martyrs

    • and more...
  • A small town named Dulta with 5 named NPC descriptions.
  • 4 specially designed locations: the druids forest, the town of dulta, the rotlands and the crimson mountain range. Among the background story provided are Vampires and Undead Dragons.
  • BONUS CONTENT

    • A chapter dedicated to following up on the Aftermath of the story, hooks and ideas for continuing the story in one or more new adventures.
      • What would happen if the Demon Lord was not banished and what happens if he is?

Galen's Gamble is the product of the Bootcamp course i took part in, building a RPG book from no idea to release. Normally the course instructs this over 30 days, I took little over a year, however I did everything myself, from artwork to editing and typography. I am excited to see the final result and I really hope you can find a use for it!

I have included an option for a FREE book inside Galens Gamble is a link to a survey and by completing that survey you get a discount url for a FREE copy of Time Hunters sourcebook.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
