Wow! This is a very cool system! Miniature but also a classic full value game. Earlier I thought that Savage Worlds is the shortened version of GURPS. And now I think Adventurers! is the more shortened version of Savage Worlds :D

So I translated it to Hungarian for myself and my friends, and bought some of the settings (Dark Camelot, Voodoo Pirates, No Happy Endings, The Dawn of Tomorrow, Gothica). And of course I'd like to write some new settings or conversion of exist settings to it... we will see... o.O :)

For the sake of completeness, I would guess that the average person has a net of zero for STR, AGI, and MND? You could adjust this by giving them a -1 in other stats and still end up with some respectably capable foes; especially if you give them a skill or two. A guard with a STR -1, AGI 2, MND -1, Armorcraft (Light)(B) and Weaponcraft (Polearms)(B) equipped with Light Armor and a Staff could still put up quite a fight versus entry level characters.

Two questions about Defense (DEF):
- The Weaponcraft skill (along with the "deflect" weapon note) seems to indicate you can use a weapon for the defense roll, instead of Armor + Agility. How does this work?
- For Medium or Heavy armor, do you use the greater of the two defense values? E.g. if your Agility is 4, you would have a Def of 3 for heavy armor (use "3" or Agi-2 (4-2=2).

I am taking care of it, not Umberto and we shall start updating settings soon. For now, only those from KS, rest will be done after we finish working on Beasts and Barbarians new edition (and kickstarter for it).

Dungeon is updated, btw. Enjoy. :)

Hello,
I've a few questions about skills.

When I'm Advanced in Charisma : with only 1 roll (-2) I can give +1 to all my allies AND -1 to all my foes ? Or does it need to different rolls (in two different rounds)
When I'm Advanced in Mobility : +1 Att, Def and AR are for me AND for the selected vehicule (if I drive it) ?
When I'm Advanced in Learning : Can I spend 1 Her to give +3 to ANOTHER person ? After or before the roll ?

Hi. Sorry for the delay. With Advanced Charisma you must choose between bonus to allies or penalty to foes. For Mobility the bonus is for both. Learning can be used on friend, before or after roll (in gaming terms you intervene explaining things to the friend before he fails). Hope it helps!

Thank you ! It will help me a lot. With Advanced Charisma : if I buff my allies during first round (+1 to roll), can I try to debuff (-1 to roll) enemies on 2nd ? Or only one effect for each encounter ?
If I fail the 1st test, can I retry it each round until I success ?

Hello. What happened to the product "Adventurers! The Dungeon"? It has gone missing from the main site and product listing, even though I was a purchaser and still have access to the product. I ask because it was one of the more interesting and general supplements for Adventurers!, and it seems like material that shouldn't have been lost. I don't think any other supplements have been removed, but if there are one or more others, I would like to know to be sure.

I don't know if this implies an update of some kind is in the works, but I would like an answer when you can manage.

BTW - we are working on print version of Adventurers! - with updated settings, but also as I`ve said - in print.

Hello,

Thank you for this new edition of this excellent mini-game :)

I have a few questions about rules :
If I have a Greatsword and an Heavy Armor (AR 3/4/6), and I roll and "4" with armor die : I reduced damages by only 1 point ? Damage can be reduced to 0 ?
If I have a Greatsword (Str 12 2H, +1 Dmg, -1 AR, Enc 1) and no Armor, what is the effect of "-1 AR" ? I ignore it ?

About Illusion Sphere : if illusionary creatures are created, can we use them to hurt opponents ? (illusions could be like semi-real creatures ?)
About Transmutation Sphere : If i change another character in bird, can he fly ? If I change it in venimous snake, can he poisons opponents ?
Area of effect modifier is forbidden for certain spheres or can be applied to all powers ? (if no information is indicated about it in settings)

Thank you for giving it a try ;).
Damage reduction must be read in this way: AR 3/4/6 means that if I roll 3 I reduce damage by one point, 4 by two points and 6 by three points. Rolling 4 you'll reduce by 2 points, but being Greatsword a dangerous weapon (-1 AR), it is considered 3, so you reduce by one point. And yes, you can reduce damage to zero.
If you have no armor, just ignore the -1 AR.

Illusion: you can use it to damage opponents, but usually damage should be only temporary.
Trasmutation: if you change a character to a bird he can fly, a fish can breath water and so on. A venomous snake will poison opponents.
Area of Effect: well, it depends on how you describe the aspect of your power. For example if your Healing power is made "blessing" normal water and sprouting it on target, you can do it on area. If it is a touch healing, obviously not. The same consideration can be made, case-by-case, to every Power.

The "Jlm" review says, "You can't buy the power skill at character creation so, by the rules, you can't create a beginning spellcaster. This is very odd." I think that's due to some ambiguous wording in the player's guide, part 5. It should instead say, "After character creation, you may only buy the Power skill with GM's permission." Ie. you can't announce you've suddenly gained magic powers for no reason just because you gained experience.

This isn't a review, but: looks good for what you pay! Who needs a complex rule system? I'm interested in the solo experience too, as one review notes. Might try Mythic GM Emulator with this.

Because the creature cards aren't centered on the page it's impossible to align both sides correctly when printing. I see in 'Voodoo Pirates' you have centered the cards correctly. Could you correct the default cards as well please? They are potentially great for random events!

Also if we are just using the 6 points system to assign abilities, does a -1 give the player an additional point to spend elsewhere?

X/Y = You can use the better stat between X and Y
Example. A Sword is Str/Agi. If used by a hero with Str 2, Agi 3, it grants Attack 3 (equal to Agi)

Balanced means that if X=Y you receive +1 Attack.
Example. Example. A Sword is Str/Agi and balanced. If used by a hero with Str 3, Agi 3, it grants Attack 4 (because Agi = Str, you use the better value (3) and add 1).

Hope it helps!

So if Str is 3 and Agi is 2 the character wouldn't benefit from the +1 from the balanced tag?
Customer avatar
Wayne R May 10, 2014 5:28 pm UTC

I only ask as to me it doesn't seem to make sense that someone with say 5/4 doesn't benefit if that's the case, but someone with 2/2 does. I'm unclear why someone with superior stats doesn't benefit when someone with lower stats does just because they are equal. Thanks again for the help.
Customer avatar
Umberto P May 10, 2014 8:17 pm UTC

Well, the idea under the "balanced" rule is that some weapons are made to be optimally used with an equal mix of Strength and Agility.
So, consider two fighters, one with Str 2 Agi 2 and the second one with Str 3 Agi 1.
The first fighter receive the bonus for having equal scores in Str/Agi (his fighting technique uses at best agility and strength), so he has Attack 3.
The second fighter is superior in Str (he has 3), and in combat he bases his attacks on sheer force.
But in swordfighting the two fighters are equivalent: the balance of the first manages to match the force of the second.
Hope I have cleared your doubts.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
