Master Fantasy Plot Generator

The Master Fantasy Plot Generator is a HTML5 application that is designed to be an aid to role players as well as writers. With of the click of a button you can have a basic campaign arc with a few supporting adventures which could also easily become a story outline.

As a HTML5 app it can be used on any computer, tablet or smart phone with a web browser as long as you can store files on the device. This package contains a zip file which contains a "MFPG" folder and within the folder is the webpage and supporting files. Simply unzip the file, move the folder where you want, and click on the webpage (html) file within the folder to launch the generator.

The format of the adventure arc takes a queue from screenwriting as well as pulp adventure novel writing. The overarching story of the arc is set in motion by a central villain who is trying to accomplish his schemes which are integrally tied to a location. To kick off the arc the players or the hero are pulled in by a hook. As the heroes go about trying to foil the nefarious schemes of the villain they will continue to encounter various supporting characters and thematic forces that may aid or oppose them.

The arc, the heart of the story, is based off of Lester Dent's "Master Fiction Plot" method for writing pulp action stories. There are four acts which continue to heap trouble upon the hero. The fourth act concludes with the climax where the hero confronts and overcomes the villain. This app represents the Master Plot by generating three supporting adventures - each with its own subplot, location, opposition, forces, complications and a twist. The fourth act is the resolution of the overarching plot which takes place at the focal location and involves the main villain.

If you don't like the plot the app allows you generate another one on the fly. You can also add more adventure legs into the arc, so you are not limited to three if you want a longer story or campaign. A sample short story arc (The Fall of Merkule) that is based upon a generated plot is included with the app to demonstrate how the generator may be used.
