Dungeonlands: Tomb of the Lich Queen (Pathfinder)

Enter… and die!

Dungeonlands: the isolated realm of the Lich Queen, cut off from the worlds and planes heroes know. This old school killer dungeon is so massive we had to split it into three parts, and LQ1 Tomb of the Lich Queen is the first part of that trilogy.

For those who wish to keep playing beyond the conventional adventure path, this megadungeon is designed to challenge high level characters that have been summoned across time and space - from any setting or genre – to see if they can succeed where countless others have failed. The lich queen’s devious machinations, traps and monsters are an impenetrable barrier between your characters and their greatest prize – survival!

Beautifully illustrated in old school style, reminiscent of pulp Conan novels and that rolepaying game which started it all, Tomb of the Lich Queen is a treat for any Pathfinder fan looking for a real challenge.

Dungeonlands is part of the Suzerain Continuum, an interlinked set of realms that allow your characters to travel all of time and space, becoming demigods in the process! Check out Suzerain for Pathfinder [LINK] and our FREE Continuum Guide [LINK] if you really want to kick it up a notch (or three)!

Product Contains: A stunning 142 page PDF detailing every evil twist and turn in the dungeon. The book is layered so you can switch off the ink-devouring elements to create a print-friendly version on the fly.

The Dungeonlands trilogy has been through a revamp recently, with changes made to almost every aspect, from rules to layout. Tomb of the Lich Queen now has maps in it, which the original didn't. A lot of updates, and we feel we've turned a good adventure into a truly great one. The balance is great, the format improved to make it easier to find everything, those maps are right there on the page for each encounter... the list goes on.

Thanks for the info.
Btw: I never noticed this in the original print run ... but you misspelled my name in the list of backers. You have me listed as Jon "johnkzin" Rudd. It should be John "johnkzin" Rudd.

What is the difference between the standard edition and the premium edition? Also, does the hardcopy have all the maps in it or not?

"What is the difference between the standard edition and the premium edition?"

It's about the print quality. DriveThruRPG offers two qualities of print and it changes the quality of the paper and the printing. Standard is nice, but premium is truly lovely.

"Also, does the hardcopy have all the maps in it or not?"

All versions of the Pathfinder Dungeonlands trilogy now have maps in them, whether physical or digital.

Do the other two books in this story arc contain maps? If so, one book can be felt with fairly easy?

Yes, they do. Additionally if you grabbed a copy of Tomb of the Lich Queen email me at loki@savagemojo.com and I'll send you a pdf with the missing maps. We are working on an updated edition in which they are included, but in the meantime I am making sure that no one misses out.

Unfortunately, the PDF-only option is not showing up or, rather, it's showing up, but clicking it only selects 'Softcover Color Book (Premium)'. If the situation can be rectified, I would happily purchase the PDF. Also, is the continuum version you speak of going to have bonus material and/or the other books included? Just curious.

Thanks for the heads up! We are digging into it right now and should have it sorted pretty soon. As to the Continuum Edition, we are considering putting additional maps into it. (See Heidi's comment below for more details.)

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions. If I don't know the answer, I'll find it!

Thanks for your comment, Marco.

We have the map tiles for the both the outside (Isle of Paxetel: http://www.rpgnow.com/product/115290/Dungeonlands-Isle-of-Paxetel) and the dungeon itself (Dungeon Tiles: http://www.rpgnow.com/product/115291/Dungeonlands-Dungeon-Tiles) as well as an overview map in the book.

That said, at Savage Mojo we've been talking about the same thing and we tend to agree that it would be best to put the maps right in the book. What we've said is that we'll be inserting the maps in the next version of the book, when we do the big update to a Continuum Edition later this year.

At that moment everyone who bought a copy of the PDF previously will get the updated version for free. We have a few other projects to finish first, but hopefully that makes you feel a bit better.

We hear you, Michael! The team's working hard on a Continuum Edition, and it'll have heap more than just the inclusion of the maps. Since that's a few weeks away still, we've created a PDF 'sidecar' file that has all the maps in it for anyone who has Tomb of the Lich Queen and is waiting on the new version. Email Loki (community at sign savagemojo dot com) and he'll get you a copy of that to keep you gaming until the full update is polished up.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
