Enter The Shadowside - Core Book

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Life is a resistance to what came before it, and to what comes after. The universe of things is the illusion, as is the sense of our birth as the beginning and death as our end.

At a primal level you know this to be true: the dullness of this world sends your mind wandering, and in dreams you've been given glimpses of elsewhere. You remember what this elsewhere felt like, because that's where you came from. Think back of when you were a child: late at night you'd wake up for nor reason, and your eyes would go to the closet, and the dark. Remember what that felt like, what you thought lurked there. The details don't matter -the details are gone. But the scent stayed with you. Others disregard it. Maybe you tried to, and can't. Know this: you suspected right. The hidden wars do rage all around you; and you suspect right every time you feel their echoes whispering down the back of your neck.

Take the next step. Let Belief be your key, your door and your doorknob. Let it guide you back to the place where you could will anything into existence by simply hoping (or fearing) it was already there. Because it most certainly was. Dreams and nightmares- Cogito Ergo Mundi Est - the Shadowside.

This book contains all you need to start playing. Character and StoryHost sheets, Rules, Setting, Factions, etc.

Update: You could also get this [in our first Bundle together with three organization sourcebooks](http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/103415/Enter-The-Shadowside---Bundle-1-%5BBUNDLE%5D).

Before I tell you about Enter the Shadowside, let's talk about the supernatural in RPGs. There are two huge mistakes people make when putting the supernatural into RPGs. The first is that sometimes they don't clearly define what the supernatu [...]

There's a lot to love in this game, especially if urban fantasy is something that you're into. Production values The art is very simply fantastic. You can tell that the artists both put a lot of careful detail in and the images look great. The [...]

Pros: It's cheap! $5 with $2 optional supplements is a nice deal, I don't care who you are. The artwork is actually evocative of the setting. Overarching plot structure without meddlesome metaplot. You have an endgame, but no prescribed [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
