STALKER - The SciFi Roleplaying Game

Watermarked PDF

In memoriam: Boris Strugatsky (1933-2012)

In the Zones, the laws of nature have gone insane. Deadly anomalies defy logic and reason. Monsters roam the streets of dead cities and the bones of the fallen crack beneath your feet. No one knows what really happened, nor do they really care. The World wants the Zones closed off, walled in and forgotten. The governments were only too happy to oblige and gave them away to the Institute.

The Institute answers to no one.

The borderlands between our world and the Zones are now lawless frontiers where the Institute wields absolute power. Zone refugees are hunted like animals. Scientists experiment on human captives. Criminal activity of every kind flourishes in the shadow of the border, well and truly beyond the reach of law.

Even in the Zones, there are things that people want. Things that promise the impossible; infinite energy, the cure for all ailments, or the power to rewrite fate. Leaders, businessmen and generals would kill to get their hands on them, or to keep from the hands of others. Which is why you are here. Looter. Criminal. Stalker.

If you come back with swag – it’s a miracle

If you come back alive – it’s a success

If the patrol bullets miss you – it’s luck

And as for anything else – that’s fate

Stalker - the SciFi Roleplaying Game is the one and only true "Stalker" roleplaying game, based on the novel Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky but brought to the modern times and modern audiences. The Finnish-language original was released in 2008 to rave reviews. The leading daily newspaper named it as one of the top culture events of the year. Years of insistence by hardcore fans lead to it being translated into English and now here we are.

STALKER RPG is published with the permission and license from Boris Strugatsky, who will also be receiving royalties for every copy sold. This makes it the only official "Stalker" roleplaying game out there and your support to a literary genius is highly appreciated.

STALKER RPG uses an innovative diceless game system called FLOW that emphasizes player participation, role immersion and the use of rules as a catalyst to great roleplaying moments. You can find us at

First off the positives: This is an amazing book, background and info briming on every page. It presents one of the best backdrops for a game I've come across. Black and white illustrations sdd to the noir feeling of the setting, flavour text is cool. [...]

Excellent lore. Really captures the Stalker feeling and expands on it. The rule system is interesting but I haven't tried it. It does seem to fit really well with the game. Recommended! If just because its a cracking good read! [...]

I have to say that STALKER RPG is one of the most evocative and superb roleplaying books I've read since I started gaming (over thirty years ago now). I'm unashamedly old school, and so have no real interest in the FLOW system per se (ok, I'm probably [...]

The fluff is excellent, entertaining and makes the whole process of learning about the Stalker universe engaging. The best part of this game is the gamemasters pages and the FLOW system. I've never had as clear and well written material on how to actually [...]
